Today is Earth Overshoot Day, people.
Humans have used a planet’s worth of resources in 2018 already. This day is getting earlier every year.
Earth Overshoot Day, previously known as Ecological Debt Day, is the calculated illustrative calendar date on which humanity’s resource consumption for the year exceeds Earth’s capacity to regenerate those resources that year.
If we work together to move Earth Overshoot Day by just 5 days a year, we’d be out of Earth overshooting by 2050, leading to a planet which will start to improve and regenerate faster than we destroy and consume.
