The US Senate has voted 50:48 to confirm President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court after weeks of barraging debate, shifting the balance within the court from liberal to conservative just one month before the US mid-term elections.
Brett Kavanaugh is now a confirmed Supreme Court Justice.

Supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh advanced to confirmation vote.
Just minutes ago, the US senators voted in what ended up as a very close result of 51-49, in favour of the motion put forward to practically end the debate on Kavanaugh’s nomination.
With this decision, the final vote on his confirmation could happen very soon, as soon as tomorrow in fact, and although it is true that support for the motion is not necessarily equal to support for the nominee, it is evident that the weight will most probably be on the swing senators
Special attention is currently being given to Sen. Susan Collins who has said she will reveal her plan later on today, despite having voted in favour of the confirmation vote.
