Derek Chauvin convicted of murder in the death of George Floyd

Tensions ran high in Minnesota this week as the jury in the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin prepared to deliver its verdict.

Mr Chauvin faced two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, last May in Minneapolis. He could be found guilty or innocent on any one or more of those counts.

The jury, a panel of seven women and five men, began deliberating Monday after three weeks of witness testimony.

It has now reached a verdict – Guilty of all Counts
